Shocking footage has captured the moment a pack of stray dogs attacked a toddler in front of his horrified mother.
The mother and her five year-old son were walking down the street in the town of Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, India, when the stray dogs appeared.
In the CCTV video captured on July 7, the boy, named Anik, was pounced on by the animals before they picked him up with their teeth.
As they tried to take him away, his mother fought back as she tried to tug him out of one of the dog’s mouth. One dog grabbed the boy by his ankle, whilst another grabbed him by the arms.
In the footage however, after a few seconds, the dogs appear to be cooperating with each other and begin to drag terrified Anik away down the road.
Four dogs could be seen in the clip before a neighbour heard the scuffle and came over to help.
Eventually, the boy’s mum was able to carry him up in her arms and ran towards their home.
According to local media, the boy was hospitalised with 18 deep bite wounds.
He is still recovering from the ordeal, Daily Goat reports.
