Angry residents of Sowo village blocked the Abeokuta–Sagamu Expressway to protest the k!lling of four pupils of Iddo Primary School, Kobape, Ogun State, in a road crash.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at about 3 p.m. when a vehicle rammed into the schoolchildren while they were returning home.

According to eyewitnesses, some angry youths attempted to lynch the driver of the vehicle, but he was rescued by security operatives.

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the accident occurred after a Toyota Corolla with number plate KSF 579 DM rammed into the pupils who were returning from school and k!lled four on the spot.

“According to eyewitnesses, four male children of Iddo Primary School, Iddo, Kobape, were walking home from school when a Toyota Corolla that was speeding lost control and rammed into the pupils on the walkway,” Akinbiyi said.

“The impact of the collision reportedly led to the d3ath of the four pupils at the spot of the accident.

“The pupils were taken to the General Hospital, Ijaiye, for certification by the emergency responders and later handed over to their families for burial.”

Akinbiyi noted further that some community members took to the expressway to protest the d3ath of the pupils, but the situation was brought under control with the intervention of sister security agencies.

“Community members protested the d3ath of the pupils, which affected traffic flow, but with the combined efforts of TRACE, the police, and the Nigerian Army, normalcy was restored,” he said.
