Their awkward reaction led Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin to joke: “Woah, look at these two. They’re either having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
Fans later uploaded videos of the moment to social media, and online users quickly identified the duo. Byron resigned on July 19, followed shortly after by Cabot stepping down from her role as head of HR.
Julia Byron, who had previously been married to Kristin Cabot’s current husband, Andrew Cabot, told the Daily Mail that she began receiving messages once the incident went public.
“I texted Andrew right after it happened, and he said: ‘Her life is nothing to do with me,’ and said they were separating,” Julia explained.
She continued: “He’s saying it has nothing to do with him, even though they were married and shared a house. But then, the only thing he cares about is money … He’s not a nice person. Now something not nice [has] happened to him.”
Julia noted that the word most people associated with the kiss cam scandal was “karma.”
“It was like: what you give, you get. Personally I don’t think he’s affected by what happened at all. I don’t think his feelings are hurt. He’s probably embarrassed, if anything.”
According to her, this marks Andrew Cabot’s third divorce.
“I wouldn’t say he’s husband material, but she doesn’t seem like wife material either,” she concluded.
