Veteran Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu, has issued a strong warning to those enduring toxic or violent relationships.

In a trending video shared on his social media page, the 68-year-old actor urged people to prioritize their safety over holding on to a harmful union.

According to him: “Don’t die to save a relationship. Instead, end the relationship to save your life. Love should never be at the expense of your life.”

The actor’s message sparked widespread reactions online.

One commenter wrote: “He’s absolutely right, though in reality it’s not always easy to follow.”

Another added: “Na person wey dey alive fit love. Stay alive first, no let fake love send you to early grave.”

Chiwetalu Agu, born in 1956 in Enugu State, is famous for his unique slangs and comic expressions in Nollywood movies. He also clinched the 2012 Nollywood Award for Best Actor in an Indigenous Movie.
