Manchester City have suffered an injury blow ahead of their Premier League derby with Manchester United on Sunday.
This comes after their forward Omar Marmoush picked up a knee injury while on international duty with the Egyptian national team this week.
Marmoush came off in the ninth minute of the Egypt’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old suffered a bruised knee ligament injury following a brutal tackle in the fourth minute of the encounter.
Marmoush tried to continue the match but was eventually taken off five minutes later.
The Egyptian FA later announced that Marmoush had suffered a bruised knee ligament and will be assessed by Man City’s doctors.
Marmoush will now hope to recover from the set-back before their match with Man United at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.
