Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers, has made a promise to Nigeria International, Kelechi Iheanacho.

The former Manchester City and Leicester City star moved to Scotland in the summer after failing to meet the expectations of fans at Sevilla.

Rodgers said he would help Iheanacho rediscover his best form this season.

During his spell at Sevilla the Super Eagles forward was only able to make just eleven approaches, scoring three goals.

Iheanacho moved to the English Championship with Middlesbrough in January but the move failed to reignite his career.

However, Rodgers believes so much in the ability of his former player and is optimistic their reunion will bring out the best in the forward.

Addressing the press on Friday, the former Leicester City boss welcomed the 28-year-old’s arrival at Celtic Park.

“Thankfully at the end of the window there was a player that was available that I know very well,” Rodgers told Celtic TV.

“Kel was a player that was brilliant for me at Leicester. I only want to take someone here who was robust and he’s a genuine talent.

“And if I can get that out of him again it could be a big plus for us. So we lost Adam. Adam made a really good contribution here.”

Iheanacho could play his first game for the club against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday.
