Police arrest five men supplying motorcycles to terrorists in Kebbi, reject N600,000 bribe to free the suspects

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested five suspects for alleged criminal conspiracy, abetment, and possession of motorcycles intended to facilitate banditry in the state.

The suspects, Saifullahi Suleiman, Halidu Adamu, Ibrahim Abubakar, Sani Kabiru, were arrested on September 18, 2025, by a joint patrol team of officers and vigilantes led by the Divisional Police Officer of Kamba Division, Bello Lawal.

The spokesperson of the command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, September 22, said a fifth suspect, Mubarak Ladan, was arrested for offering N600,000 bribe to the police to secure the release of the arrested suspects.

According to the PPRO, the three motorcycles recovered from the suspect were meant to be delivered to Lakurawa terrorists group through one Alhaji.

“The Kebbi State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough in its sustained onslaught against violent crimes in the state. On the 18th September, 2025 at about 2130hrs, police joint patrol with members of the vigilantes led by the Divisional Police Officer, Kamba, while acting on credible intelligence arrested the following suspects (1) Saifullahi Suleiman age 37yrs (2) Halidu Adamu age 26yrs, (3) IIbrahim Abubakar age 37yrs and (4) Sani Kabiru age 22yrs all m of Kamba town, Dandi LGA of Kebbi State, in possession of three Honda motorcycles AKA Boko Haram, purchased from Benin Republic, at the sum of Five Million Four Hundred Thousand Naira (#5, 400, 000: 00),” the statement read.

“In the course of interrogation, it was discovered that the said motorcycles were meant to be delivered to Lakurawa terrorists group through one Alhaji m of Kangiwa town, Arewa LGA of Kebbi State, who is still at large.

“Similarly, while the investigation was ongoing, one Mubarak Ladan m age 28yrs of Kamba town, Dandi LGA, approached the DPO kamba, SP Bello Mohd Lawal, with the sum of Six Hundred Thousand Naira (#600,000:00) bribe to truncate Justice, with a view to securing the release of the arrested suspects. Hence, he was also arrested and recovered the said amount as exhibits.”

The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani had directed the Deputy commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, to intensify more efforts to track down the remaining fleeing suspects who featured in the case.

CP Bello M Sani had commended the DPO Kamba and members of the Vigilantes for displaying professionalism, courage and visibility policing approach in arresting the suspects and charged them to sustain the momentum for economic activities to thrive in the state.

The CP equally charged other DPOS in the state to emulate the DPO kamba, and reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Command in eliminating the networks of unscrupulous elements operating along the boarders of Kebbi State.

Sani, however appealed to the residents of the state to continue to partner with the police and other security agencies in ensuring crime free environment.
