Popular social media commentator Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, has embarked on his second trip to China this year.
Earlier in 2025, he traveled to the Asian country, claiming his purpose was to uncover fraudulent practices involving Chinese manufacturers, suppliers, and Nigerian businesspeople. According to him, several Nigerians have lost huge sums of money to these schemes. His first visit stirred diverse reactions online, with personalities like Seaking describing him as manipulative.
On Wednesday, October 1, which coincided with Nigeria’s Independence Day, VeryDarkMan shared pictures and videos of himself on a flight as well as new clips taken in China.
Explaining the reason for his latest trip, the outspoken critic said he aims to re-establish connections and create business opportunities for young people across West Africa. He recently clashed with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing the agency of seizing his mobile phone.
Sharing updates on Instagram, he wrote:
“BACK IN CHINA with my brother @china_ross_boss. I need to get back those contacts, need to create those opportunities… GOD go run am. Naija youth get ready, Ghana youth, Cameroon youths, Liberia youths, Sierra Leone youths get ready… West Africa in general, WE MOVE.”
In addition, he posted a video where he criticized the Independence Day celebration, arguing that Nigeria is still not truly free.
