Arsenal winger, Leandro Trossard has described his teammate, William Saliba as one of the best defenders on the planet
It has not been so smooth for Arsenal at the beginning of the 2025-26 season but hopes are still high that they could pull the string this season.
The Gunners look well-positioned to win the league heading into the November international break.
They are just two points away from catching up with league leaders, Liverpool atop the table after a dramatic late winner against Newcastle United last weekend.
Title holders, Liverpool suffered a shock defeat to Crystal Palace last time out to allow Arsenal close the gap.
Arsenal play West Ham this weekend while Liverpool travel to west London to face Chelsea and this could provide Mikel Arteta’s side the opportunity to go top of the table.
The Gunners’ fine form has been underpinned by their defensive solidity.
And Trossard believes that Saliba has been pivotal in their run of good form with just 3 goals conceded so far this season.
“First of all, he is a great human being,” Trossard said of Saliba to Sky Sports.
“He’s a funny guy, and yeah, on the pitch, I think he’s one of the best in the world at the moment.
“He’s so calm on the ball and then off the ball, it’s so hard to get past him. He’s strong, he’s quick, he has basically everything.
“He just needs to focus on every single game, and I think then he can be the best in the world in his position.”
Saliba told reporters after signing his new deal with Arsenal recently that his desire to win silverware with Arsenal was a key factor in accepting the contract.
