Newcastle United legend, Alan Shearer was among those to criticise Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca’s red card after the Blues’ late dramatic 2-1 win against Liverpool in the Premier League at the weekend.
Chelsea defeated Arne Slot’s side, thanks to Estevao Willian’s 96th-minute winner.
The Brazilian winger’s goal caused wild, jubilant scenes at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca was seen as he sprinted down the touchline to celebrate with his players and the home supporters.
The Italian was therefore shown a second yellow card by referee Anthony Taylor upon his return to the dugout.
Maresca had already been booked in the first half during the encounter for dissent after Taylor did not give a penalty when Alejandro Garnacho had gone down in the box following a challenge from Dominik Szoboszlai.
However, Shearer was not pleased with Tyler’s decision on Maresca.
“I know the laws and rules, but come on,” Shearer said on Match of the Day.
“You have just scored a brilliant late goal, your team has been superb for you under huge pressure, and he gets a yellow card for showing that emotion… I don’t get it.”
