Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo could be on his way out of the club when the January transfer window opens to join Napoli.

The English International had initially asked that he wants to leave Manchester United during the summer transfer window but the club failed to heed to his request. However the lack of playing time of Kobbie Mainoo Napoli since the beginning of the 2025/26 season there have been concerns from the player’s camp and he might leave to join Napoli in January.

The Serie A champions are leading the race to sign him in January. Antonio Conte sees Mainoo as a perfect addition to his midfield. For the United midfielder, this move to Napoli could be perfect as he gets the chance to play and learn from Kevin De Bruyne. Also, he will find a familiar face in Scott McTominay.

Most players are seeking playtime this season because of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The players that fail to break into the team at their club risk the chance of getting selected for the World Cup.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also following Mainoo’s situation this will see him get regular Premier League football.
