Head coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has called on Nigerians to show full support to the national team as they face the Benin Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday in Uyo.
Chelle spoke at his post-match interview after Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier victory against Lesotho on Friday.
NEWSUNPLUG reports that Nigeria defeated Lesotho 2-1, thanks to goals from William Troost-Ekong and Akor Adams.
“We need to have our fans behind us to put pressure on Benin; this is the World Cup qualifiers,” Chelle said.
“This game [Nigeria vs Benin] starts when they put their feet in our country, we need to do the job on the pitch.”
Benin Republic is currently top of Group C with 17 points, while South Africa is in second place with 15 points, and Nigeria is in third position with 14 points.
