Nigeria football legend, Segun Odegbami, has said the national team has a good chance of making it to the 2026 World Cup via the playoffs.

The Super Eagles finished as one of the best runners-up in the African continent, thanks to a 4-0 thumping of Benin Republic on Tuesday.

Victor Osimhen scored a hat-trick as the three-time African champions ended a difficult qualifying campaign on a high.

Eric Chelle’s men will now join the likes of Gabon, Congo DR and Cameroon in a mini-tournament.

“We did very well. I am happy with the boys, and I think we deserved to win and we won very well and we now have an opportunity to qualify,” Odegbami said.

“I think we have a very good chance to qualify from these play-offs to make it to the World Cup.”

The winner from the African playoff will be joined by Bolivia, New Caledonia and two teams from Central America, and one from Asia.
