Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has cleared the air that he wanted to bench winger Lamine Yamal against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League but was overruled by the club’s chief Deco.
Flick spoke ahead of Barcelona’s LaLiga clash with Girona at home on Saturday.
There have been reports that Deco intervened and made sure Yamal played against PSG despite being late to a team meeting in the build-up to the match.
When asked about the reports, Flick told reporters at his pre-match press conference on Friday, ”I’d like to know where you are getting that rumor from.
“It’s bullsh*t. It’s not true. At this club, with Deco and the rest of the professionals, I have a real relationship.
“I believe in my work. I have confidence, and they would not ask us for that. It’s a rubbish rumor. Whoever said it lied.”
