Popular content creators MC Mbakara and his wife, Lolo Mbakara, have bravely shared their emotional experience of raising a child living with cerebral palsy and the stigma that comes with it.
In a heartfelt video posted on their Instagram page, the couple ho celebrated their wedding anniversary just a few months ago pened up about the difficult journey that began during the birth of their first child.
Lolo recounted that her pregnancy had been smooth, with regular antenatal visits and scans showing no complications. However, things took a tragic turn during labour when the baby got stuck, making delivery extremely difficult. Though she eventually gave birth, their newborn struggled to breathe.
According to her, the hospital where she delivered lacked oxygen, forcing them to rush to another facility. Sadly, when they arrived, medical attention was delayed for over 30 minutes because the nurses insisted they complete registration first.
After finally being attended to, they were referred again to a third hospital where their baby was placed on oxygen for a week. Subsequent scans brought devastating news. Lolo revealed that a student doctor even advised them to take the baby off oxygen so that she could “rest in peace,” saying it would bring them peace as well.
The couple rejected that suggestion, choosing instead to stand by their daughter and believe in a miracle.
Their daughter, affectionately called Eke Mama, has been living with the condition ever since. MC Mbakara emotionally disclosed that she sleeps almost all the time 99% of the day” eaning she has spent most of her nine years asleep.

@FeliciaBeee:”Cerebral Palsy (CP) affects movement and posture, it’s a medical condition, not a spiritual one. I truly admire you and your husband for showing love and strength while sharing your child’s story. It’s not easy, especially in a society where CP is often misunderstood. May God continue to bless and strengthen you.”
