Bayern Munich has confirmed a contract extension for head coach Vincent Kompany following his impressive performance since joining the Bundesliga champions.
The announcement was made on the official Bayern Munich website on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. The start of the 2025/26 season has been strong for Bayern, as they won their first seven Bundesliga matches, reinforcing confidence in Kompany’s leadership.
Kompany expressed his delight over the contract extension with Bayern Munich, stating,
“My focus is a bit mixed at the moment. I just want to win tomorrow [against Brugge]. Of course I’m happy, but for now I want 3 points in the next game. I have the feeling I’ve been here longer than 16-17 months. I understand how the club thinks, but also the players. We have the same goals. I have a lot of respect for the past of this club. I just want to contribute to having a similarly successful future as well. I want to write history together, where people say: This is Bayern, and that we’re proud of that.”
Kompany’s new contract will keep him at the club until at least June 30, 2029, which is two years longer than his previous contract, set to expire in the summer of 2027. This extension signals that Bayern is committed to Kompany’s vision for the coming years, rather than viewing the coaching role as a short-term position.
