Police arrest APC secretary in connection with d3ath of 45-year-old woman in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the d3ath of a 45-year-old woman, Falmata Abubakar in Gashua, Bade Local Government Area of the state.

LIB reported that the lifeless body of the food vendor was found dumped near the Federal University Gashua (FUG) last Friday, October 17.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the body was transported in a vehicle and dumped at the location where it was discovered.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, who confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 said the suspect, Abdulmumini Garba, 60, the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Karasuwa Local Government Area of the state.

According to the PPRO, the suspect confessed to having conveyed the victim in his vehicle, during which an argument ensued over her request for financial assistance to support her business.

The suspect disclosed that Falmata d!ed during the altercation and he disposed of her body in a bush near the varsity where it was discovered later.

“The Yobe State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the recovery of a female corpse near the Federal University Gashua on 17th October 2025,” the statement read.

“Following diligent investigation and sustained intelligence efforts, police operatives from Bade Division have arrested one Abdulmumini Garba, 60 years old, of Gasma, Karasuwa Local Government Area, who serves as the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Karasuwa and also the Secretary of the Vegetables Market (Kasuwan Gwari) in Gashua, in connection with the d3ath of late Falmata Abubakar, aged 45 years, of Abasha, Sarkin Hausawa Ward, Gashua.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having conveyed the victim in his vehicle, during which an argument ensued over her request for financial assistance to support her business.

“The altercation tragically resulted in her d3ath inside the vehicle. Realizing that she had d!ed, the suspect stated that he subsequently disposed of the body in a nearby bush at about 2200hrs on the same date — the spot where the corpse was later discovered.

“This development is a testament to the Command’s proactive intelligence-gathering capacity and the tactical operational strategies deployed by Bade Division, which led to the swift tracking and arrest of the suspect.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, psc, fdc, while commending the Divisional Police Officer and his team for their professionalism and determination, reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring that justice is served.

“He further assured the public that the investigation will be concluded diligently, and the case charged to court upon completion.

“The Command appreciates the continued cooperation and support of members of the public and urges everyone to keep providing credible information that will assist in curbing crime and ensuring peace and security across Yobe State.”
