A judge has resigned after she was caught peeing in a bush near a courthouse by police.

Bodycam footage obtained by Fox 10 shows Judge Pro Tempore Kristyne Schaaf-Olson allegedly urinating in the street in Yavaoi County, Arizona at around 1.30am on 4 October.

One officer arriving at the scene witnessed Kristyne pulling herself off the ground behind a bush. The officer noted in the police report that she “appeared to have lost her balance” and “fell over in the bush.”

“What are you doing?” the officer asked. “This is disgusting.”

“I’m waiting for an Uber,” the woman replied, appearing to slur her words. “Okay, this is unacceptable,” the officer responded.

In the video, she continues murmuring and slurring while telling the officer her name. As the two kept speaking, Kristyne’s husband, Jason, approaches.

“Are you her husband?” the officer asked. Jason replied yes, and the officer asked if he can wait by the cab.

“Nope. Come on,” Jason said, holding his hand out to his wife. “Yes, you can because I’m conducting an investigation,” the officer said. “I just saw her puking and urinating, exposing herself.”

“Nope, that wasn’t her,” Jason answered. “Okay, you can go by the cab or you can continue to interfere with the investigation,” the officer retorted.

“Come on babe,” Jason said, still holding his hand out to his wife. “Last chance, go over to the cab,” the officer said as Jason refuses again.

Two officers then detain Jason, who said, “you can’t do this.”

“I’m going to [expletive] throw you on the ground if you resist,” the officer said. “I gave you several chances, and you don’t want to listen.”

Kristyne tells her husband to “stop” multiple times as officers detain him. A struggle breaks out between Jason and the officers as he’s tackled to the ground.

“Get your ass on the [expletive] ground,” the officer said. “I’m not doing anything!” Jason replied.

“I’m not fighting!” Jason yelled, “Grab the cuffs,” another officer was heard saying.

“Can you please let me up so I can breathe?” Jason asked. “You’re going to give us a minute,” one officer said.

“Why didn’t you just listen, bro? You weren’t and then you want to resist. So, you can go to jail,” another officer told him.

Two officers then hoist him to his feet and attempt to put him in the back of a patrol vehicle.

“Sit up, don’t play games,” an officer said. “I’m not playing games,” Jason is heard saying as both officers keep telling him to stand up.

Jason is hauled away to the patrol vehicle and placed under arrest.

“Do you understand that this was unnecessary? That she was just going to get a ticket?” the officer told him. “When an officer is giving you an order, you need to comply and not interfere with the investigation.”

Two days after the incident, Schaaf-Olson submitted her resignation to Presiding Judge John Napper, stepping down from her role as Judge Pro Tempore in the Yavapai County Superior Court. She provided the following statement for her resignation:

“My resignation comes after careful consideration of current physical, medical, and family circumstances. The Yavapai community deserves and has judges who are steadfast in their commitment to serving Yavapai County, considering current events in my life, I believe it would be difficult to honor this commitment. I have therefore decided to resign. It has been a pleasure serving the Yavapai community.”

“I respect and appreciate Ms. Schaaf-Olson’s decision to resign. On behalf of the Yavapai County Superior Court, I appreciate the time that Ms. Schaaf-Olson has served our community and her willingness to remain in her position while the Court selects a new Pro Tempore,” Judge Napper added in a statement.
