Pastor Eno Jerry, wife of prominent Nigerian pastor Jerry Eze of NSPPD, has ignited discussion after addressing women who prioritize careers over honoring and submitting to their husbands.
During a sermon focused on women pursuing careers, she encouraged young women to align their ambitions with biblical principles within marriage.
“Even though I have a career, two master’s degrees, and a PhD, if you cannot lead while respecting a man, then you’re missing the point,” she said.
She also emphasized the importance of selecting appropriate role models:
“Those who have struggled in their marriages shouldn’t be your guides. Your role model should be someone who embodies the kind of marriage you aspire to. For instance, Sarah in the Bible referred to her husband as ‘Lord,’ and that itself is a lesson.”
Her remarks quickly drew attention online. Some praised her emphasis on humility and respect, while others questioned her views on traditional gender roles, arguing that women can be both independent and supportive partners.
Pastor Eno Jerry stressed that career success should not overshadow the need for balance, reinforcing that marriage remains a central aspect of life.
Her message highlights that while education and professional accomplishments are important, respect, cooperation, and balance are key to a fulfilling life.

“PHD, MSC , HR, no matter the kind of career you have, if you cannot take control and be under a man, I don’t know what you’re doing outside there. People that have failed in their marriage are the ones teaching you how to do marriage right now.” – Mummy GO pic.twitter.com/JNfAUobfrd
