Arsenal midfielder Max Dowman on Tuesday became the youngest-ever player to feature in the Champions League, after coming on as a 73rd-minute substitute against Slavia Prague.

Dowman reached the milestone at 15 years and 309 days old.

The English teenager took the record from Youssoufa Moukoko, who played for Borussia Dortmund against Zenit St Petersburg in 2020 at the age of 16 years and 18 days.

Dowman also made his Premier League debut aged 15 years and 234 days, as Arsenal thrashed Leeds United 5-0 in August. That made him the second-youngest player ever in the Premier League, after teammate Ethan Nwaneri, who was 53 days younger on his 2022 debut.

However, Dowman became the youngest-ever player to start a match for Arsenal in the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Brighton in the League Cup fourth round last week.
