Chelsea legend, Claude Makelele, has said that Ecuadorian midfielder, Moises Caciedo will be in the running for next year’s Ballon d’Or.
He said that all the South American needs to do is continue to build on his current form.
Caicedo has shown in the past 18 months that he is worth the £115million fee Chelsea paid to sign him from Brighton in 2023.
He won the Blues Player of the Year award last season after starting all 38 Premier League games for them.
He helped Enzo Maresca’s side secure their return to the Champions League, won the Europa Conference League and the Fifa Club World Cup.
His performance against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend earned him praise from pundits and fans.
Both Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca and former Liverpool midfielder, Jamie Redknapp believe is among the world’s top two midfielders currently.
And former France International, Makelele man believes the midfielder will soon emerge as the best player in the world.
“I’m not surprised. I’ve been around Chelsea when he arrived in England, and I talked with him. I like this boy, I like this boy,” Makelele told Metro.
“He is talented, powerful, and tactically, he is very good.
“He is so good, and he can be the leader for this team.
“This is very important, and if he continues, I think he can also compete for the Ballon d’Or next year because he is such a good player.”
