Afrobeats sensation Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, recently shared the story behind his collaboration with rock icon Mick Jagger on the track Empty Chairs.
The Grammy-winning artist revealed that supermodel Naomi Campbell played a pivotal role in bringing the two stars together. Speaking on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Burna Boy explained, “It’s actually wild because Naomi Campbell was the one who made it happen. The next thing I knew, I was talking with Mick Jagger, and it felt like we’d known each other forever.”
Describing the experience as surreal, Burna Boy said that despite coming from very different musical backgrounds, working with Jagger felt surprisingly natural.
Their joint effort on Empty Chairs, featured on Burna Boy’s latest album No Sign of Weakness, has been celebrated for blending Afrobeats with classic rock, further cementing Burna Boy’s status as a global musical force.
