Nigerian singer Waje has revealed that she was never paid for her contribution to P-Square’s 2007 hit, “Do Me.”
Speaking on the HonestBunch Podcast, she said the song, which introduced her voice to a national audience, came with no financial reward or credit.
“I didn’t earn a dime from P-Square’s Do Me,” Waje stated, recalling the experience with humour and reflection.
The singer added that many people doubted her claim to the vocals on the track.
“Imagine being in Onitsha market and telling people that’s my voice every time Do Me is played — they didn’t believe me,” she said.
Waje, who couldn’t appear in the music video due to not having a passport, said the experience taught her the importance of proper agreements and credits, shaping her determination to take control of her career.
