The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has officially confirmed the arrest and arraignment of Samuel Ojeogwu, widely known as Sammy West, the elder brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.
The confirmation comes after days of public speculation, social media appeals, and heated discussions within the Daniels family over his detention.
In a statement issued on Friday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, explained that the arrest was prompted by a petition filed against Sammy and three others.
According to Adeh, the petition contained allegations of criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying.
She further disclosed that Sammy was invited several times to report to the police for questioning but failed to honor the invitations.
The statement read in part:
“Upon receiving the petition, multiple invitations were sent to Mr. Samuel Ojeogwu, which he failed to honor. Consequently, the police obtained a valid court warrant for his arrest.”
Following the warrant, officers apprehended Sammy in Lagos and transferred him to Abuja for investigation.
After the investigative process was concluded, he was arraigned in court on November 6, 2025.
The court ordered that he remain in custody until he meets his bail conditions, which are yet to be fulfilled.
This latest development unfolds amid rising tensions between Regina Daniels’ family and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, who has been accused by the actress of orchestrating her brother’s arrest.
Both Regina and her siblings have been outspoken on social media, describing the situation as an attempt at intimidation and emotional blackmail.
Her elder brother, Sweezy, recently announced his plans to return to Nigeria, declaring that he was prepared to face arrest as well. Their mother, Rita Daniels, also alleged that there were ongoing moves to have her detained.
Meanwhile, Regina Daniels has hinted at a possible reconciliation with her estranged husband following Sammy’s detention.
In a heartfelt post shared on Instagram, the mother of two expressed that she might consider going back to Senator Ned Nwoko if that is what it takes to secure her brother’s release.
She lamented the ordeal Sammy has faced, saying his only “offence” was standing up for her when she needed protection. Regina also voiced her disappointment with the Nigerian justice system, stating that while she once had respect for law enforcement agencies, she now feels deeply let down.
