Liverpool manager, Arne Slot has made a worrying claim about his side’s Premier League title race this season after the Reds’ 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
Slot watched as Man City thrashed Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium, leaving them in eighth position on the Premier League table.
Speaking at his post-match interview after the game, Slot insisted that Liverpool should not be thinking about the title race, but rather focus on how to improve on their results going forward.
“The last thing I should speak about is the title race. We have to focus on getting results,” Slot said.
“Result after result after result before we can even think about that. The reality is that we are eighth. One team is quite far ahead, although City is now four points away
“I said last season, many times, the best way to judge the table is after 38 games. The next best way is to judge it after 19 games. The last thing we should be focusing on is the title race. We have to improve, that is obvious.”
