Calls have intensified for billionaire politician Ned Nwoko to resign from his senatorial position amid his ongoing marital dispute with Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.
The controversy began after Daniels accused Nwoko of having her brother, Sammy, arrested. Sammy was reportedly taken into custody on November 6, 2025, in Lagos and is now being held in Abuja.
Actress Georgina Onuoha recently took to Instagram to urge Nwoko to step down, suggesting that his resignation would allow an independent inquiry into allegations of sexual coercion, unlawful detention, and substance abuse. She also called on the Nigerian Police Force, the Ministry of Justice, and human rights organizations to intervene and conduct thorough investigations.
In a related development, an old video of Regina Daniels’ mother, Rita Daniels, has resurfaced online, providing clarification about her age at the time of marriage. Contrary to claims that Regina married Nwoko at 17, Rita Daniels stated she was almost 20 years old when she tied the knot with the politician. Regina and Nwoko’s traditional wedding took place on April 25, 2020, in Delta State.
Adding to the tension, Regina’s brother, Sweezzy, previously made a startling claim about the death of Nwoko’s son, alleging that it was caused by heart failure and seizures due to excessive drug use in the United Kingdom.
