Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has reflected on Nigeria’s defeat to DR Congo in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff final on Sunday.

Nigeria will not participate in the 2026 World Cup after losing to the Leopards on penalties, following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

The likes of Bassey, Moses Simon, and Semi Ajayi all missed their penalty kicks against DR Congo.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Bassey reflected on his time in Morocco and the DR Congo match.

“A lot happened, but it is just what it is,” the Fulham star states.

Bassey will return to England as Fulham prepare to face Sunderland in the Premier League this weekend.
