President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sadness over the killing of Nigerian Army personnel by members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The President’s reaction was made known on Tuesday in Abuja through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to reports, ISWAP fighters abducted and killed several soldiers, among them Brigadier General Musa Uba. News of their deaths has triggered widespread outrage on social media, with many Nigerians voicing their frustration and anger.
Tinubu called on citizens especially those in affected communities to work closely with security agencies to strengthen the fight against terrorism.
“I commiserate with the military over the loss of the brave soldiers and Brigadier General Musa Uba, who paid the supreme price while confronting insurgents in Borno State,” he said.
