Actor and President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has finally addressed the ongoing controversies surrounding the marriage of Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko.
In an extensive Instagram post, Rollas explained why he had stayed silent amid the public drama, citing his personal relationships with both parties as the reason.
“Prince Ned Nwoko serves as the Chairman of the Board of Patrons of AGN, and Regina Daniels is a member of the Guild. I also know Regina and her mother personally. Since this is essentially a family matter, I chose to remain silent not out of fear, but out of respect,” he stated.
Rollas noted that while many in the entertainment industry are aware of the truth, they have chosen to remain quiet. He expressed concern that Regina may require assistance.
Reflecting on a past experience, he addressed colleagues who were present during a recent production, including Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko, and Sanni Danji. He stated, “You all witnessed what occurred during the last production involving Regina. The reality is that she needs help, and your silence leaves me vulnerable to criticism over matters I did not create.”
He also shared details about conditions set by Nwoko for Regina to attend a roundtable meeting in South Africa. “Senator Nwoko personally told me he would only allow Regina to travel if she avoided passing through Lagos. This fact has been misrepresented, and I want to clarify it,” Rollas said.
Additionally, Rollas recounted an incident from Regina’s son’s birthday, where Nwoko reportedly expressed concern over her smoking habit in front of friends and AGN members. According to Rollas, Nwoko suggested that stopping the habit could lead to her having a daughter, emphasizing that the statement was made publicly and witnessed by several people.
Rollas stressed that his intention in sharing these concerns was not to shame Regina but to help her recognize that she needed support. “Seeking help is not a crime. Many of our members have received assistance from the Guild before you. It is disappointing when individuals criticize you behind your back but are unwilling to speak directly to you,” he said.
He also addressed the focus of Rita Daniels on Guild leadership, cautioning that personal challenges at home should take precedence over Guild ambitions. “If your family and health are under strain, AGN elections should not be your priority. The Guild should be a safe environment, and normalizing harmful habits as part of a ‘celebrity lifestyle’ endangers younger members,” he noted.
The AGN president further criticized Nwoko for publicly calling out Regina instead of addressing issues privately and clarified misinformation regarding a ₦200 million donation. “It is inaccurate to claim that the ₦200 million was given to AGN. The funds were intended for Regina’s film production, not the Guild. Publicly misrepresenting this adds to the burden I face in setting the record straight,” Rollas said.
Through his statement, Emeka Rollas sought to provide context and transparency, highlighting his desire to protect both Regina Daniels and the integrity of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
