The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, over an alleged conspiracy and r@pe of a 20-year-old undergraduate.

The spokesperson of the command, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Monday, November 24, 2025 said preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects, Queen Sodo, a 19-year-old undergraduate of the institution, lured the victim, her long-time friend, to her home.

Ayanlade said the victim, who had known Sodo since secondary school, accepted a drink later found to have been laced with drugs, rendering her unconscious.

When her friend became incapacitated, Queen Sodo reportedly left the room, summoned her male co-conspirator, and kept watch while he r@ped the victim.

“The Ondo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that operatives attached to Akungba Divisional Headquarters have successfully arrested two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), in connection with a case of conspiracy and r@pe involving a 20-year-old female student of the same school,” the statement read.

“This notable operational success underscores the Command’s enhanced capacity to combat crime, made possible through the strategic guidance and unwavering support of the Inspector-General of Police, whose leadership continues to strengthen law enforcement across the state.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that the victim was invited to the residence of her long-time friend, Queen Sodo ‘f’, 19 years old, also a student of the same school.

“Trusting in the longevity of their friendship, which began in secondary school and continued into university, the victim accepted a drink provided by her friend, which was later found to have been laced with drugs, causing her to lose consciousness.

“Observing that the victim had become incapacitated, Queen Sodo reportedly cleverly left the room, summoned her male co-conspirator, and kept watch while the crime was being committed.

“The victim was subsequently rescued by a neighbour who noticed unusual and inconsistent noise from her neighbor’s room. She was found naked, unconscious, and in a compromising position with the arrested male suspect, and was immediately taken for urgent medical attention.

“Following preliminary assessment, she was referred to a specialist hospital for further medical treatment, where she is currently receiving care and recuperating.

“Both arrested suspects have confessed to their involvement and the specific roles they played in the crime, providing investigators with crucial information to aid in the prosecution of the case.

“Relevant and corroborated exhibits relating to the crime were recovered at the scene, including the bottle of the drug-laced drink, which will be transferred for toxicology examination, all of which have been identified by both the victim and the suspects as connected to the incident.

“The suspects are presently in lawful custody, and efforts are ongoing to transfer them to Gender Desk Office, Akure, for further discreet investigation and subsequent prosecution.

“The Ondo State Police Command reassures the public that offenders, regardless of cunning or familiarity with their victims, will be apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law.

“The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, appreciates the Inspector-General of Police for his unwavering support, which continues to empower the Command to deliver justice decisively and efficiently.

“The Command also advises parents and guardians to continuously educate their children on the importance of caution in relationships, including with friends, as even longstanding friendships can be exploited to perpetrate criminal acts.”
