Former Manchester City and Chelsea winger, Shaun Wright-Phillips has said that Arsenal defender, Ben White could make a shock switch to London rivals Chelsea in the summer.
White joined Arsenal from Brighton for a fee of £50 million in 2021 and was a key player for the Gunners during his first three seasons.
The England international made at least 32 Premier League appearances for the Gunners in each of those seasons.
He was, however, hit by injury last term and Jurien Timber was brought in to cover for him.
The Englishman is now finding it difficult to break back into the Arsenal team, as Timber has emerged the best right-back in the English top flight.
Wright-Phillips said the former Brighton star could be heading to west London to help Enzo Maresca’s side solidify their defence.
“I could see a move for Ben White to Chelsea take place next summer,” Wright-Phillips told Best Betting Sites.
“It makes sense, it’s possible.
“I feel quite sorry for Ben because he had an injury, and he was playing so well for Arsenal. He was unbelievable.
“Then he came back and he’d lost his place to Jurrien Timber, who’s the best right-back in the Premier League. It’s going to take something special to unseat him now,” he said.
Arsenal beat Bayern Munich 3-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday night to open a three points gap over the German side.
The next game for Arsenal which Ben White would be hoping to start is against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.
