Controversial critic Verydarkman has reacted to the ongoing controversy surrounding Grammy award-winning artist Burna Boy, following the singer’s much-publicized request for a sleeping fan to be removed from his recent United States concert.
In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Verydarkman challenged claims of a widespread boycott against Burna Boy, specifically focusing on alleged evidence being circulated online.
Verydarkman shared a clip that was supposedly footage of individuals demanding a boycott of Burna Boy. He claimed this clip was a re-edited video taken from the 2020 End-SARS protest in Abuja, not a recent boycott demonstration.
He also addressed claims that Burna Boy had lost over 100,000 Instagram followers, citing evidence that contradicts the claim. He further targeted an X user, @honest30bgfan, who had previously posted an old video suggesting fans’ “absence” at Burna Boy’s Coachella performance. Verydarkman countered this by noting that the artist only performs at night, suggesting the clip was taken when Burna Boy was not even on stage.
Regarding the source of the alleged boycott footage, Verydarkman noted the suspicious nature of the account circulating it:
“The Instagram account that made the post has changed its username six times and was created in July 2022.”
In his summary of the situation, the critic urged people to be discerning about the information they consume:
“He dug up an old video from the same X account showing fans’ “absence” at Burna Boy’s Coachella performance and noted that artists perform only at night, suggesting the clip was taken when Burna Boy wasn’t even at the event.”
