Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, has responded to Bayern Munich star, Joshua Kimmich’s criticism of the Gunners’ style of football.

He insisted that the Gunners are not the only team using a direct style of play.

Following Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday, Kimmich accused the Gunners of relying on set-pieces and long balls.

Kimmich said that Arsenal are not the toughest opponents Bayern have faced this season, insisting that the French side, PSG play better football than Mikel Arteta’s side.

For Kimmich, Arsenal do not play football but try to win games by every means possible.

During his prematch press conference on Friday, Arteta was asked about the German’s comment, he replied, “I think the way both teams play, I think the way they played against PSG was very similar.

“When everything becomes man-to-man and the way they are with their full-backs, the way we do what we did in terms of rotation, they create a game that has very long sequences of passes.

“So I know what he’s saying, so that’s fine, it’s part of the game. I think the game is provoked in the manner that both teams play, so it’s very understandable.”

Up next for Arsenal is a Premier League clash against second-placed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
