Yoruba actor and filmmaker Lere Paimo, popularly known as Eda Onileola, has addressed rumours surrounding his death at the age of 86.
Earlier on Saturday, November 29, social media was flooded with reports claiming that the veteran actor had passed away.
In response, Paimo shared a video proving he is very much alive and in good health. He also left those spreading false information in God’s hands.
“I am alive and well. To everyone sharing news of my death since midnight, I won’t curse you, but God will judge you,” Paimo said in Yoruba.
The video followed a statement from the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP), which dismissed the death rumours and confirmed that Chief Paimo is alive.
ANTP, through its national PRO, Prince Adejonwo Oluwafemi Femson, advised the public to verify information before sharing it online.
