Bayern Munich loanee, Edna Imade, will no longer play for Nigeria or Morocco.
This is because the player made a competitive debut for Spain in the first leg of the UEFA Women’s Nations League final on Friday.
Imade was born in Morocco to a Nigerian mother and this made her eligible to play for the Super Falcons.
The Nigeria Football Federation had tried to convince the striker to wear the colours of Nigeria.
She was willing to play for Nigeria until Spain came calling and she eventually opted to pursue an international career with La Roja.
Spain coach, Sonia Bermúdez, handed the forward a maiden call-up for the two-legged Nations League final against Germany.
She came on to replace Esther Gonzalez in the 85th minute against Germany and ended any hopes of playing for Nigeria or Morocco.
Because the UEFA Women’s Nations League is an official competition, the 25-year-old is now permanently tied to Spain.
