Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has named Spain international, David Raya as the player that has changed the fortune of the club.
Arteta believes the £27m signing has taken his team to a ‘different level’.
He said his countryman has helped transform his Gunners team, adding that he had made a move to sign the player immediately he became Arsenal boss.
Raya joined Arsenal on loan in a surprise move, taking the place of England goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale at the club.
Raya won the Golden Glove award in his debut season at the Emirates Stadium and made a permanent £27m move.
The 30-year-old Spain international is now counted among the best goalkeepers in the world.
“An amazing goalkeeper,” Arteta said of Raya ahead of their Premier League clash against Brentford.
“It’s a great story as well and how it happened.
Asked whether Raya is the best signing he’s made as Arsenal manager, Arteta added: “It’s a very difficult question to answer.
“But he’s certainly one that is taking us to a different level. He’s certainly a player that has brought something to our way of playing.”
