Former Manchester City forward, Bradley Wright-Phillips has picked Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi as ‘the best player’ over Al-Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
Wright-Phillips believes that the Argentina forward offers more than just scoring goals in terms of quality when compared to Ronaldo.
When asked if Ronaldo should be regarded as the best player in football history, Wright-Phillips told talkSPORT:
“It’s not possible to be the best player in the world being just a scorer.
“Ronaldo? No, come on. Are you one of those people who thinks Ronaldo is better than Messi? For me.
“It always has to do with the eye test. I think the best player in the world has to look like Messi has to look like Zidane. There has to be something else there.”
Messi, 38, and Ronaldo, 40, who have won several Ballon d’Or awards, are nearing the end of their football careers.
