Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has admitted he “regrets” not starting Josh Acheampong against Leeds United in their Premier League clash on Wednesday.
Maresca also dropped Reece James and Wesley Fofana for the trip to Elland Road.
Trevoh Chalobah started at right-back, while Tosin Adarabioyo partnered Benoit Badiashile in the centre of defence.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’d clash against Bournemouth, Maresca conceded that he made a mistake with his team selection.
He said: “One of the regrets I have after the game is I didn’t play with Josh [Acheampong].
“So the reason why we played with Trev, Tosin and Benoit is because analysing them [Leeds], we saw that most of the time they were playing long ball for [Dominic] Calvert-Lewin, for [Lukas] Nmecha.
“And so we prefer physicality to win aerial duels. But even with that, we lost most of them.”
