Afrobeats artist Shallipopi has responded to critic Daniel Regha following his review of the singer’s newest album, Auracle.
According to Naija News, Regha criticized the album for a perceived lack of lyrical development, creativity, and depth. While he noted that some beats were appealing, he felt the overall quality of the tracks declined as the album progressed.
Regha also suggested that Auracle might have been more effective if released as a shorter EP. Despite his overall low rating, he praised the track Pull Up, featuring Pa Salieu, for its strong flow.
He wrote: “Shallipopi can’t be considered a real artiste, just someone who has access to a studio; But he gets credit for putting his state on the map. His latest album “Auracle” is a painfu’ listen with no lyrical evolvement, substance, or creativity shown. Asides some good beats, each track gets progressively worse from the previous one. He should taken four or five tracks and call it an EP. The project will do numbers due to people’s taste in music nowadays, however no-one’s IQ will improve people’s taste in music nowadays, however no-one’s IQ will improve by such an album, nor can it be a cultural reset.
That said, one song “Pull Up” has a good flow (lyrics aside), with Pa Salieu bringing the track to life. It’s a 1/10. No offense.”
