A suspected kidnapping attempt along Ejule–Olamaboro Road in Kogi State has resulted in a fatal motor accident, leaving one person dead.

The incident occurred at about 5:00 p.m. on December16 when a Toyota Corolla car, conveying passengers along the road, was attacked by suspected kidnappers.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, a source said the assailants reportedly shot at the driver while the vehicle was in motion, causing him to lose control and collide with a tree.

“Three occupants of the vehicle, Obinna Okoronkwo, Precious Okoronkwo and Ochita Grant were rescued by a patrol team,” the source said.

According to the source, Obinna Okoronkwo, who sustained a head injury in the accident, was confirmed d3ad and his body deposited at Iko Ojo Hospital Mortuary, Okpo.

Security operatives have been mobilised to trail the suspected kidnappers, while intelligence gathering and surveillance remain ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.

Authorities have urged motorists and residents in the area to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
