Nollywood actress Doris Ogala is reportedly seeking ₦1 billion from Pastor Chris Okafor, the founder of Grace Nation Liberation City, alleging that he failed to honor a promise to marry her.
According to reports from Naija News, Ogala’s lawyers at Synergy Law Partners issued a formal demand, giving Pastor Okafor 21 days to fulfill the payment or face potential legal proceedings.
The correspondence claims that their relationship, which began in 2017, lasted nine years during which Pastor Okafor allegedly assured Ogala multiple times that he would marry her. Her legal team stated that these assurances were reinforced by his actions, including introducing her to his family and appearing with her at public functions.
Ogala reportedly made significant personal and financial decisions based on this promise, including leaving a difficult marriage and transferring funds to the pastor, one of which amounted to ₦45 million.
The dispute escalated after Pastor Okafor announced his engagement to another woman. Ogala’s lawyers claim this caused her emotional suffering, public embarrassment, and reputational harm. They also alleged that private photos of Ogala were shared without her consent.
