Calvin Bassey insists the Super Eagles have the quality to emerge champions at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, NEWSUNPLUG reports.

Bassey was part of the squad that finished second at the last edition in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Super Eagles lost 2-1 to hosts Cote d’Ivoire in a keenly contested final.

Éric Chelle’s men still have majority of the squad intact, and Bassey believed they have  gained enough experience to go all the way this time around.

“Yeah 100%. I think the last AFCON I was 23. I have matured and a lot of the team have matured and we have gained a lot of experience,” Bassey told Fulham TV.

Bassey will be representing Nigeria in a major tournament for the second time.

The 25-year-old is expected to play a key role for the Super Eagles in Morocco especially with the retirement of former captain, William Troost-Ekong.

The defender and Semi Ajayi are Chelle’s preferred choice in centre-back.
