Former Newcastle United striker, Alan Shearer, has given his predictions for the first set of Premier League fixtures after Christmas.

It all kicks off with Manchester United hosting Newcastle on Boxing Day.

Manchester City travel to Nottingham Forest, before Arsenal welcome Brighton on Saturday.

Chelsea will take on Aston Villa in a very crucial encounter at Stamford Bridge.

Shearer told BetFair: “Man Utd vs Newcastle – I think it will be a scoring draw, and everyone will be watching that game. Prediction – Draw

“Arsenal vs Brighton – I’m not impressed with Brighton; they weren’t great against Sunderland and for that reason I fancy Arsenal here. Prediction – Arsenal win

“Chelsea vs Aston Villa – I wasn’t that impressed with Chelsea defensively at the weekend. I’m going to go for an away win for Villa just because of the form they’re in. Prediction – Aston Villa win.”
