Nigerian midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, is upset that he did not get to play with his brother, Tom Dele-Bashiru, for the Super Eagles in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Both brothers were first listed in Nigeria’s 54-player temporary squad that was announced in early December before the competition.

Only Fisayo was chosen for the final team that went to Morocco, and Tom was left out.

Fisayo, who plays for the Italian club, Lazio has been part of Nigeria’s team in the tournament.

He has played in the wins against Tanzania and Uganda.

His efforts helped the Super Eagles get the most points in Group C and finish first in the group with nine points.

Fisayo said that missing the opportunity to play for Nigeria with his brother was upsetting, especially for their family, who were really looking forward to that moment.

He told Victor Modo that “the family was really looking forward to it.Unfortunately, he wasn’t selected for the final team.”

Even though this was a disappointment, the midfielder is still hopeful that the brothers will eventually play together for Nigeria.

He said the exclusion hasn’t stopped them from working towards their goals.

Nigeria is now focused on their next game in the Round of 16 against Mozambique as they keep trying to win the continental title again.
