Former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel has expressed his disappointment regarding the club’s recent decision to part ways with manager, Enzo Maresca and subsequently appointing Liam Rosenior as his successor.

The former Super Eagles captain said it was a shame for Maresca to exit Chelsea as he also casted doubts over Rosenior’s ability to manage some top Chelsea players like Enzo Fernandes, Moises Caicedo, and Reece James.

Speaking on the Obi One Podcast, the retired footballer said, “Enzo Maresca was a fantastic coach for us. It’s a real shame to see him go, having won several trophies.

Obi Mikel also raised concerns about Rosenior’s ability for managing high-profile players like Enzo Fernandes, Moises Caicedo, and Reece James.

He added, “How does he manage a World Cup winner like Enzo Fernandes, or World-class players like Moises Caicedo, Reece James.

“It’s an opportunity for a black young manager, that is good, but it doesn’t qualify you to get a job at Chelsea. Chelsea. This situation feels like a mess.”
