Real Madrid manager, Xabi Alonso has expressed disapproval of comments made by Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone directed at Vinicius Junior during their Spanish Super Cup semi-final on Thursday.
Following Vinicius’ substitution, a heated confrontation unfolded between the Brazilian and the Argentine gaffer on the sidelines.
Cameras captured Simeone allegedly telling Vinicius, “Florentino [Perez] is going to sack you, remember that later.”
However, Alonso was not happy with Simeone’s comments.
“I heard what [Diego] Simeone told Vini, and I did not like it,” Alonso told reporters at his post-match interview
Goals from Federico Valverde and Rodrygo gave Real Madrid a 2-1 win against Atletico.
Alonso’s side will now face Barcelona in the Super Cup final on Sunday.
