Former South Africa international, Stanton Fredericks, has tipped Morocco to win the 2025 Africa Cup of nations trophy.
This was after the Moroccans beat Nigeria 4-2 on penalty shootout on Wednesday to set up a final clash with the Taranga Lions of Senegal.
The match ended in a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes, leading to extra-time and subsequent penalty shootout.
Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno Onyemaechi missed the kicks for the Super Eagles.
Nigeria will now settle for a third-place match with the Pharaohs of Egypt on Saturday, a game Eric Chelle’s side will be playing just for the fun of it.
Meanwhile, Senegal beat Egypt by a lone goal from former Liverpool man, Sadio Mane, to progress to the final of the tournament.
Making his prediction, Stanton Fredericks, who was on punditry duties on SuperSport, said, “I just think that the host nation is playing this evening against a Nigerian side that stood for themselves.
“They never sat back, they never stopped defending and attacking. They defeated the Super Eagles because they have everything by their side, the home crowd.
“I think in this final, the home side will have the advantages and I think they’ll lift the trophy against Senegal. In as much as my heart says Senegal, my football brain says Morocco cannot lose against Senegal.”
