The Adamawa State Police Command has commenced an investigation into an alleged acid attack on a 17-year-old boy, Walid Mohammed, in Yola South Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesman of the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, January 15, 2026 in Yola.

According to Nguroje, the incident occurred on January 14, 2026, at Shagari Quarters, when the victim was allegedly attacked while on his way to a mosque.

“On January 14, 2026, the victim, a 17-year-old, ran to the Shagari Division Headquarters in distress, stating that while on his way to mosque, he was sprayed with a substance suspected to be acidic by one Idris Hamza, a resident of Shagari, Yola South LGA,” the statement read.

“Following the report, the victim was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment, while the alleged suspect was taken into custody.”

Nguroje said the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case to ensure a thorough investigation.
