Former Manchester United player, Paul Parker has asked his old team to sign Ruben Neves from Al-Hilal.
He thinks the midfielder has all the qualities needed to quickly become successful at Old Trafford.
Parker told Metro that the only thing stopping Neves from moving is the wages, and he said the £20 million asking price is reasonable.
He said that the former Wolverhampton player is the ideal choice for the midfield because he has all the qualities.
“That would make a lot of sense, but you’ve got to consider the wages that come with it, because of where he’s just come from,” he said.
“I have always liked his work. He would definitely help keep the midfield balanced and would fit in there perfectly.
“When you talk about a player who fits perfectly into a passing role, someone who has all the right skills—like good ball control and strong discipline—everything he does is exactly what teams look for in that position.”
Parker said signing Neves would help Bruno Fernandes by giving him more freedom to move around on the field.
He said that the club captain is not disciplined enough to stay in one place, and that’s hurt the team.
The former United full-back said that: “Amorim wanted Fernandes to take on that role, but Fernandes is not able to do it because he is not disciplined enough.
“If Fernandes is going to play for Manchester United, he needs to move forward more and let someone else take on that role.
“Fernandes really wants to wear a cape and act like Superman, doing everything possible, but he just can’t do it. It’s that straightforward.
“He doesn’t have the discipline. He gets too emotional. While you watch Neves, he’s a totally different player. Completely different. So, yeah, someone like him does fit that description.
“They need a player like that, and if he still has the same skills he had before he left the UK and comes back with the same drive, that would be a big plus.”
Manchester United have named Michael Carrick as their new head coach for the rest of the season.
