A photo that recently went viral online stirred rumours that Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr’s mother, Nene Aderibigbe, was pregnant, sparking heavy reactions across social media.
The image, which quickly gained traction, showed the singer’s mother popularly known as the self-acclaimed “Gen Z mummy” appearing with what looked like a baby bump. She was seen wearing a purple top paired with her signature jean shorts, a look that further fuelled speculation among online users.
However, further checks revealed that the viral image had been altered using artificial intelligence (AI), indicating that the pregnancy claim was false.
Despite this revelation, the photo continued to circulate widely, with several users sharing it alongside sarcastic and mocking captions. One viral post read:
“Ayra Starr, mother aged 42–43, is now pregnant. Abi menopause na for poor people?”
Ayra Starr’s mother later came across the post and reacted online. In response, she simply wrote “Hallelujah”, accompanied by laughing emojis a reaction many interpreted as humorous and dismissive of the rumour.
